While RFH’s Borden Stadium has played host to countless memorable games and championships over the years, nothing compared to the action on the gridiron this past week as the 1st and 2nd grade flag football squads had a night for the ages. Teams from Tennessee, Oregon, Notre Dame, TCU, Alabama, Rutgers, Colorado and nearby Monmouth descended upon the friendly confines of RFHHS for some unforgettable action on the turf.
After an amazing rendition of the National Anthem, but the internationally renowned performer, Haley Nastro, Fire Chief Rob Eyerkuss led the ceremonial coin toss. The teams bolted out of the “tunnel” area onto their fields for tons of spectacular catches, clutch tackles and sensational TD’s.
Before the games ended, the 1st and 2nd graders showed off their dance moves with a touchdown dance competition. Overall, it was a fun night to cap off the season for the players as well as their enthusiastic fans.
Not enough kind words can be said about the coaches, who have planned, strategized and shared all they have to ensure a fun experience for the young superstars. We appreciate all the kids giving their best efforts throughout the fall season and can’t wait for the installment of flag in 2025!
